SCHOOL MEALS

Our kitchen began production January 2007 and has consistently had a 5 star rating.  Our school cook, Mrs Lesley Benson takes great care and pride in running the kitchen.  Our meals are subsidised to keep the cost down for you and are a bargain at only £2.20 a day for Year 3-6 and £1.70 for children in Nursery. All children Reception to Year 2 receive universal free school meals. All meals are made from scratch using fresh ingredients wherever possible, and meet the expected nutritional standards required by law.

It is hoped that the provision of good, healthy meals using food purchased from local suppliers wherever possible, will attract the majority of pupils, however there is still the option for pupils to bring a healthy packed lunch as an alternative.

Themed dinners such as American Day, Picnic Lunch, Party Days, Christmas dinner etc are offered throughout the year, children on packed lunches are invited to join in.

Dinner money is collected through School Money Online Payment system where parents can pay weekly or for the whole half term.   Any change in regular routine should be reported two weeks in advance, in order that the school kitchen can be informed, otherwise you will still be charged.

Please note that all reception and infant aged children are entitled to Universal Free School Meals. However if you think you would have previously qualified for Free School Meals or will later in the juniors then still make a claim. This entitles you to help with costs of residential trips, provides extra teaching assistant time to help your child in school. You may also qualify for help with the cost of uniform.

Free meals and uniform are available in certain circumstances to all children.  If parents think that they may be entitled to free school meals/uniform, please see the Head Teacher in school, where supplies of the necessary forms are available. The information will, of course be confidential.

Menus

All our meals operate on a three weekly cycle which offers familiarity to children and prevents fussy eaters! Sometimes these menus may change in order to try new dishes out or for themed meals or subject to availability of stock. Look out for the menu chalk board as you come through the door!

Allergies and Special Requirements

If your child has allergies to anything or special dietary requirements then do not despair we can cater for this too. Please talk to your class teacher or Mrs Hemingway and we can arrange a meeting with Mrs Benson to fill out a Health care plan and ensure your child's needs are met.
