Welcome to Class 1
Using our ICT skills to create penguins.
We enjoyed a wonderful tinsel trail through the village and even got chance to hang the Christmas decorations we made in class on the village tree. At the end of our trail there was a very special visitor… Santa!
We have been writing lists to Santa in class today. The children have used their phonics knowledge to sound out their lists. Look at the children’s amazing letter formations. It is only December and they already look wonderful!
We have been learning about a number that is one less. We pretended we were passengers on a bus and counted how many numbers we had left when one got off.
We read the story of the Gingerbread Man and predicted how many more characters there would be if we added one more. In our maths time we used number fans and buttons to find one more than a given number.
Enjoying a PE session in the hall.
Learning about repeated patterns.
We spoke about who we were thankful for and why. We made cards for them with our explanations written inside.
We spoke about Remembrance Day and the significance of wearing a poppy. The children created some wonderful poppy themed art work and biscuits.
We have done some fantastic writing about fireworks in our literacy session this week.
Autumn 1
Using our phonics skills to solve Evil Peas clues.
Evil Pea froze our vegetables! We needed to create our own Supertato hero to make sure he did not come back to our class again.
Using our phonics knowledge to write words that describe the evil pea.
Our sound in phonics was ‘l’ and we enjoyed making and eating ice lollies. Delicious!
We used our senses to help Mr Potato Head have a successful cinema trip.
We have enjoyed talking about ourselves and what makes us unique. We have some similarities to our friends but we are all different and that is what makes us special. We created our own self-portraits thinking carefully about what colours we should use.
We have been working hard in phonics this week learning new sounds and having a practice at forming the letters correctly.
Enjoying our new classroom and getting to know the daily routines in Reception.
