Welcome to Class 2!
A new year brings new challenges. We hope you enjoy looking at pictures of some of the activities we are doing this term...
ARCHIVED WORK
Cricket with Cricket Chris
World Book Day
To celebrate World Book Day class 2 came to school dressed as their favourite book character-which characters can you spot? Class 2 also enjoyed playing cricket with cricket Chris in their costumes. What a fun day!
Local Farm Visit to see the Lambs
Trip to Muncaster Castle
Class 2 has been learning all about castles and knights as part of our current History topic- Castles. As part of this topic we went on a trip to Muncaster Castle. The class took part in a “Time Travellers Workshop” where the children were able to discover how the Castle has evolved over the centuries and find out more about the family members that have lived within its walls. We also were lucky enough to watch the Hawk and Owl display show during our trip. It was a great day out and amazing to see how much information class 2 had remembered from all our castles lessons- well done class 2!
Design and Technology
Class 2 have been investigating how wind-up toys work as part of our Wind-Up Toys Design and Technology unit. They designed and made wind up dragon toys out of toilet rolls and elastic bands- aren’t they clever!
Poetry Day Activities
Class 2 had a super day celebrating St Bridget’s the patron saint of poetry. We started the day with a rhyming word scavenger hunt, before creating acrostic name poems and then we finished the day with a zoom call with Mr Spencer who shared some of his favourite poems with the class.
Chinese New Year Celebrations in Class 2
To celebrate Chinese New Year and the year of the Tiger, class 2 took part in a range of different activities. We made Chinese lanterns and talked about the traditional Chinese lantern festival. Class 2 also practiced writing their name on bookmarks in Chinese characters – this proved quite tricky to master. We also read “The Great Race” which is a story about how the zodiac animals were chosen for the Luna calendar. We made paper plate zodiac animals to celebrate this race. Finally, the class enjoyed tasting some traditional Chinese food including: dumplings, spring rolls and prawn crackers- they were yummy!
A huge Class 2
Welcome to Class 2 - September 2020!
Hello and welcome to a new year in Class 2
Despite the strange times we are living in, we have already been busy this term with lots of exciting activities and sport, including multi-skills coaching with Rob and dancing with Zoe. The Year 2 not-quite-a-Sleepover was much enjoyed - see the pictures below. Keep an eye on our webpage (here) and also on the Sports page for photos of some of our activities...
Once again, we are delighted that all the new children appear to have settled in so well and so quickly - thank you for helping them to make the transition from home-schooling and Class 1.
November update: we hope you like the pictures from "Children in Need", and that you have fun singing along with the songs we have learnt linked to "The Great Fire of London".
Hello and welcome to Class 2 webpage - September 2018
We are looking forward to another fun packed year! It has been a lovely start to the new year in school and we've already been very busy (see photos below).
This half term our topics are "Ourselves" and "Drawing" in Art.
Just a few reminders for this half term:
The Year 2 sleepover is on Friday 12th Oct (please note change from original date of 5th Oct).
Our "Harvest Festival" at church is on Monday 15th October at 2pm . Class 2 will making a hamper for the raffle so we will probably asking for donations from you again this year. Thanks in advance.
Don't forget to try and make time for the "Education City" homework - each week there will be a number of activities to do - one or two each day is probably best.
Thanks for your on-going support,
Mr Spencer and Mrs Ostle
