ARCHIVED WORK
‘We live to learn, laugh and play and enjoy every single day’
As you can tell from these videos the children loved their animal experience with Pet Encounters.
The children were able to; feed a meetcat, hold snakes and lizards, see a tarantula up close and meet 2 hares.
It was a fabulous experience for the children and really informative thanks to the knowledgeable people of Pet Encounters.
We have been busy carrying out investigations to deepen our understanding of shadows.
We now know how we can change the size of a shadow and we can predict whether objects will give us a darker or lighter shadow.
Through using informal units of measure the children investigated the area of rectilinear shapes. Through investigation many of the children quickly identified that they did not need to cover the whole surface of the shape with cubes in order to calculate the area. Great work Class 3!
Home Learning Reminder
The children have online activities to complete on Mathletics, Readiwriter and MathShed. We are checking these regularly to make sure that all children have activities to keep them busy. The children have their log ins for these (Mathletics and Readiwriter use the same log in and MathShed has its own log in).
Thank you for supporting your children in accessing and completing these activities.
Christmas Party Afternoon
We had lots of fun at our Christmas party 🥳
We had great fun exploring how the digestive system works. Look at the giggles we got when we realised what the end result of the digestive system was 😂!
We are now busy learning the names and functions of each part of the human digestive system.
As the grand finale to our science topic “Changing State” we enjoyed a chocolate fountain!
We melted the chocolate, talking about the melting process and what was causing the chocolate to become a liquid.
Class 3 have been finding out about this year’s Christian Aid appeal which is to build health centres in Sierra Leone in order to help pregnant women and their babies. The children looked at pictures of mums, babies and children in Sierra Leone and talked about the help they require.
We are very proud of the children’s response to this activity, they raised some very grown up points in their discussions.
Welcome back everyone! Here is the new Class 3 2017/2018!
Christmas fun 2017!
Chocolate truffles and Christingles!
Take a look at some of the photographs from our fabulous visit to The Beacon in Whitehaven!
We are learning about the Romans in Britain this term in History. We have made and decorated a shield in the style of a Roman soldier ready to re-enact a battle formation next week!

We have been labeling a bike in Literacy using some super adjectives!
We are very lucky this term to have Alex in school every Tuesday to teach us the basics of playing a brass instrument!
Hard at work in Numeracy placing 3 digit numbers on a
0-1000 number line.
Working with 4 digit numbers.
Class 3 have been getting to grips with what each digit in a 3 and 4 digit number represents using some of the fantastic place value resources we have in school!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
