We had a fantastic time on our dance course with Ms Hampson!
Autumn Art
We have been studying British birds, focusing on techniques to recreate the texture of feathers. Our final activity involved using our sketches to produce very effective prints!
Football Coaching
The frosty weather didn't stop Class 4 having fun in their football coaching with Ms Smith from Cockermouth School.
Magnificent Mountains
We have been learning all about mountains this term. Some of our favourite activities were when Oliver's dad came in to talk about the expedition he led to Chapayev Peak, a 6371m mountain in the Tian Shan mountain range, located in the Issyk-Kul Region in east Kyrgyzstan. We were absolutely fascinated by the amount of kit needed for the expedition and his real-life tales from the mountain.
In other lessons, we carried out practical investigations to explore how fold, dome, volcanic, plateau and fault-block mountains were formed. Using red buttercream to demonstrate the volcanic activity certainly seemed to be one of the favourite activities - it is a good job that we are great at tidying up!
Children In Need 2021
We all wore our pyjamas to raise money for Children In Need!
Team Sports
This autumn term we have sent 2 netball and 2 hockey teams to tournaments at Cockermouth School. We were so proud of their sportmanship on and off the pitch.
Five to Thrive Winner Autumn 1 (2021)

Well done Class 4 for completing two weeks worth of swimming lessons! You all made fantastic progress.
Welcome to the new academic year Class 4!
Class 4 entered this year's Rotary Club Young Writer Competition. The theme was, 'My Happiest Day' and the children could write in any style they wanted - prose or poetry. Sarah won the Year 5 competition, with Noah being awarded second place. For the Year 6's Ella came first with Regan coming second. Well done to everyone.
Journalism in Class 4
This half term, Class 4 have been developing their skills at writing newspaper reports ensuring they have a headline, by line, orientation, main body and reorientation. Mrs Middleton contacted an old friend who works for the Times Newspaper and he agreed to send the children evolving stories to work on under pressure. For the last week, the children have worked very hard meeting deadlines to write reports, features and articles in their own journalistic teams to create a full newspaper - the results have been amazing. Well done everyone.
Zoe, Willow, Oliver, Stanley, Sarah, Imy, Emilia and Matthew wrote a script to perform in our Collective Worship on the theme of Friendship.
This half term we have been designing and building a garden room for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children. We rolled paper into tubes and connected them with nuts and bolts to make a framework. We then covered the framework so that it was eye-catching but also weather proof. Mrs Middleton and Mrs Ostle tested the structures to see if they were fit for purpose. Great fun was had by all.
In Science, we have been studying micro-organisms. Some bacteria are helpful and some are harmful, We have 'discovered' some new bacteria and recreated them in Petri dishes.
